Blogging Besties: Ballet Flats

Happy Friday, friends! I am only one week away from the end of the semester, and I am SO ready for a break!

Last week, Whitney wore this ensemble in front of the most gorgeous background EVER:

I chose to pass on ballet flats. This is a huge copout for me because I wear ballet flats so often that they're a standard for me, but I like this outfit and it had flats so who cares? I pulled out the purple of this pattern for the scarf and green for the shoes, and then added a cardigan because it's COLD here!

Next week, Maricel will pass on one of the following elements: ballet flats, floral top, pashmina scarf, purple, a chunky cardigan, or skinny jeans!

Blogging Besties: Green

I am just in love with Whitney's outfit from last week. That shirt and skirt look like they were made for each other--an effortless mix of colors and patterns.

I kind of copped out this week and passed on the color green, because I am enamored with this jacket I found at Old Navy! I have been looking for the perfect casual cargo jacket for the longest time, and I've ordered several from Old Navy in the past only to return them because they weren't right. I think what I like best about this is that it's more of a cropped length like my denim jacket--I can still wear it with a shirt and pants, but it's short enough to be flattering when worn with a dress (as opposed to longer jackets that bulk out at the hips.) It's also a soft cotton so although the color gives off the cargo look I want, it's super comfortable and fits so nicely.

I wore it a few other ways this week, but for this outfit I paired my cargo vest and combat boots with my lace dress for a mix of masculine and feminine pieces. I finished it off with a multi-colored gem necklace which I have loved for this fall!

Blogging Besties: Scarf

Hello, all!

Can I get a "thank God it's Friday?" I am just wiped out from this week, but hopefully once classes start this week things will settle into a routine!

Last week, Whitney layered a scarf with a statement necklace, which I've never seen, and I think it was just the coolest!

I "passed on" the scarf (it's a copout, I know) but I also incorporated a bright skirt that's pretty similar to Whitney's, just shorter!

A few weeks ago, I read about how color blocking with colors in the same color family is supposed to be really flattering, so I gave it a try by pairing a peach tee with a red-orange skirt. It kinda creates an ombre effect with the white at the top, the light pink in the middle, and the boldest shade of red on the bottom! This isn't a combination I ever thought would look good in my mind, but then once the pieces were next to each other I loved it!

(Also, I'm just gonna apologize now for the photo quality. I'm still figuring out the lighting sitch in my new apartment.)

The elements of this outfit are: scarf, pastel tee, bright skirt, summer sandals, and a monochromatic color combo!

If you passed on an element from Whitney's outfit last week, we'd love to see your looks! Link up below!
