Currently: September

reading: Murder in Belleville by Cara Black.  It's the second in a series of murder mysteries that take place in Paris.  My favorite genre + anything French = Whitney heaven!

making: bunting banners for my classroom.  Instead of having a hodge podge of posters smattered about the room, I'm setting it up like a petit Paris!  There is going to be areas designated as school, the movie theater, a museum and Mademoiselle's house and then the posters are going to be hung by theme.  The banners are going to announce each location!  Here are the bunting instructions I used.

pinning: fall style.  Oh fall fashion, how I love your layers, riding boots and rich hues!  Isn't this plaid look enticing?

anticipating: when students walk through the door to my classroom on September 8th.  I am at a new school this year so I'm extra nervous and excited.  I'm also  feeling extra motivated to try some new things-- like a syllabus in the form of an infographic!

loving: quiet nights with a fall-like breeze coming through my window, spent with my cat and a good book! (photo pin).

Currently: August

creating: a desk by day, dining table by night look in the dining room of my new apartment.  This will be my first "grown-up" work space and I want it to be beautiful, simple and functional.  I will share photos when I've achieved the look I want!

wishlisting: comfy yet cute chairs for the above-mentioned room.  Why does furniture have to be so expensive (even these Target chairs)?

hoping: to get this body back in shape!  In the few months before I moved from Alexandria, I shamelessly indulged in all of my favorite restaurant cuisines knowing that I wouldn't have access to them for much longer.  I've been sweating my tush off at Flex City in Lansing to make up for it!

eating: Baked Greek Chicken.  Although I despise handling raw chicken, the end result was worth it!

watching: True Detective on HBO.  Only two episodes left!  What is going to happen next?

craving: Iced Caramel Macchiatos from Starbucks with an extra pump of raspberry syrup...especially when consumed by the pool! 

grilling: well, nothing because I don't currently have a grill.  When I do have access to such an apparatus, some fresh asparagus sounds pretty darn good!

listening: to country music (still)!  And dreaming about going to the CMAFest in Nashville next summer.  What do you think?  Should I do it?!

planning: my outfits for Create28: Lovely Summer Looks.  Are you going to join in the fun?

decorating: my new apartment!  I've decided I want a desk space in my new abode and I'm really liking the look of a simple table-like desk paired with a cart holding all of my desk accessories.

Currently: June

playing: the Sam Hunt station on Pandora.  I'm always up for a little country music, but there is something about summer that makes me want to roll my windows down and turn up the country tunes!  I can't get enough of Sam Hunt's Take Your Time.

going: to Myrtle Beach at the end of the month with my friend Deanna.  I'm leaving a few days after school ends and I think it will be the perfect way to unwind.  Let the summer commence!

wearing: this high-waisted bikini.  I ordered it in February when beach weather was just a dream...and now it's time to bare this body!  Anyone up for a round of crunches??

sipping: a Bloody Mary.  Or perhaps a few.  I just can't get enough of these lately!  In the Lansing, MI area?  Try the BM from Tavern on the Tap.  Or maybe Alexandria, VA is more your style?  Virtue Feed and Grain has my favorite!

reading: Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson.  Typically non-fiction books don't make it onto my pleasure reading list.  But this is my second read by Erik Larson.  He writes non-fiction in a way that makes you feel like you are reading a story, not just a list of facts.  I would definitely recommend checking him out at your local library.

designing: Posters to rally outside of the Supreme Court!  What do we want?  Marriage equality!  When do we want it?  NOW!

enjoying: Time with my beautiful friends here in Alexandria.

ordering: From the Milly for Kohl's collection.  I won't reveal what I ordered just yet but here's to hoping it makes a great birthday dress!
